Training in Internal Medicine and Haematology/Oncology in Munich and Freiburg. 1996 - 1998: Institute of Medical Biometry and Medical Informatics, University of Freiburg: collaboration in the setting up of the German Cochrane Centre (Director: Dr. G. Antes). 1999: German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI), Cologne: development of the Information System for Health Economic Evaluation; establishment of the section " Health Technology Assessment". 2001 - 2007: Head of the German Agency for Health Technology Assessment (DAHTA) at the German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI). 2006 - 2009: Vice-Chair of the International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA). Member of the working groups "Health Technology Assessment", "Health Economics" and "Medical Decision Making" of the German Association of Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS), the German Network for Evidence-Based Medicine (DNEBM), and Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi).
